ARC REVIEW - Empire Of Desire
My forbidden husband.
I kissed my father’s best friend and it kind of didn’t go well.
Not only because he’s eighteen years older than me—but he also didn’t like it.
Not one bit.
In my defense, I didn’t mean to fall for him. It just happened.
Nathaniel Weaver is the most attractive man I’ve ever seen with enough charisma to blind the sun.
He’s bigger than the world, owns half of it and conquered the other half.
He was forbidden.
Wrong.
So I totally got over him. Or so I told myself.
Until we’re forced to get married.
Now I’m trapped.
But maybe he’s trapped too.
Because we’re both reaching for that forbidden fruit dangling between us.
Empire of Desire is a complete STANDALONE. No book should be read prior to this.
Note: This is NOT a dark romance.

Plot Summary :
Gwen has everything she could ever want. She has a life that lost people would want, a father who is her everything and still wants something that she knows will never be hers. Her father's Best friend. Nathaniel Weaver. The most eligible bachelor ever. The one man she can never have not only because he is almost twice her age but also because He is probably not interested in her. When her one attempt at having something for herself goes to hell, she knows she has pushed him away for good. until tragedy strikes back and now both of them are stuck in a situation which is although strictly professional, but feels anything but. Being Married to the man of dreams would be heaven for most girls but not for her. Especially when she knows that he will never want her back and she is forever trapped in this hell of unrequited love and hate.
Nate knows that emotions kill. With a dysfunctional family, there are only a handful of people he can call family. One of them is his best friend King. They have been with each other since high school and nothing can separate them. Nothing but the doe eyed daughter of King who has always considered Nate as her hero. The way she looks at him is like he was a God. If only she knew the truth. Now both of them are stuck in a situation they don't approve of but are making the best of it. That is until Nate gets a taste of the forbidden fruit. Nothing will be the same again. Nothing matters, not his age, not his best friend and certainly not the society. The only thing he wants now is Gwen and there is no way he is letting her go now.
Overall Opinion :
I am so addicted to all these broody heroes that Rina Creates. She makes the best heroes ever and the intensity they have is something I can't have enough of. I have been enamoured with Nate ever since I met him in Sebastian's duet. The man was an enigma and his broody yet caring personality made me want his book so much! This book has all the tropes I dig for. It has an age gap with a broody and cold hero, it's a second chance, it's an arranged marriage and it is unrequited love! Nate and Gwen's story was an amazing start to this new series.
Another thing about Rina's books that drives me more than her actual books Is her ability to add these small scenes in the mix of the side characters and that drives me crazy in anticipation for their books! Those scenes about Knox, Daniel and their women just drove me crazy. And that mystery couple she revealed, like holy hell. I don't think there will be more explosive enemies than lovers!!! King is my new favorite character and I am so crazy for both Knox and King's books. You guys are not ready for Knox's heroine btw 🤣👀
Definitely recommending this book to all the contemporary romance loving people out there. This book was tamer than Rina's usual books and it was more on the contemporary side with an amazing age gap.
